Aclara Releases First Fully Compliant and Certified SMETS2 Polyphase Electric Meter Series for the United Kingdom.

Aclara, the world’s leading supplier of smart infrastructure solutions (SIS) for electrical, gas and water services, launches the UK market’s first fully compliant and accredited SMETS2 (Smart Metering Equipment Technical Specifications 2) polyphase electric meter collection.

The new meter collection, which includes three versions, allows UK utilities to further simplify their meter asset management at a cumulative lower cost of ownership.

The introduction of polyphase smart electric meters from the SGM1430 series continues Aclara’s 100-year legacy of offering efficient and comprehensive metering solutions for utilities and their customers.

The new smart meter system enables UK utilities to cater for a wide range of large configurations of household and small business customers, allowing them to automate and control their energy consumption, a capability not previously available in the UK, also you can see the company details of any company registered under the United Kingdom by doing Company check .

Meter line variations include:

Its SGM1431B

Intended for use in larger, high-energy residential premises and businesses such as small retail stores.

MGS1432B

Developed for use in larger residential premises and businesses including high-energy stores, it provides a single auxiliary charge system for applications requiring automatic heating power.

GMS1433B

The meter is also designed for use in larger residential premises and businesses such as high-energy stores and provides two auxiliary load control outputs for automatic night storage heating control and water heating control.

The introduction of the polyphase electric meter line SGM1430 is an integral part of the smart metering solution for dual-fuel in the UK. Aclara’s wide range of electricity meters. allows for the streamlined deployment, faster monitoring, maintenance, and firmware upgrades under a standard framework.

The first-ever SMETS2 polyphase smart meter, an Aclara SGM1433B, was recently developed by SMS plc for a Good Energy customer at a large residential property in Gloucestershire, Great Britain.

Large residential and small business consumers, which need polyphase meters due to the higher quantity of electricity they obtain, did not historically take advantage of smart meters, which automatically monitor energy consumption to enable accurate charging.

Furthermore, smart meters are an important enabler of energy efficiency and green technologies – such as electric vehicles – which promote flexible demand and help reduce carbon emissions and costs.

“Aclara currently supplies most of the UK’s tier one electricity retail suppliers, including SSE Business Energy, now part of OVO Energy, as well as leading meter asset providers such as SMS plc and National Grid,” said Jason Subirana, Vice President of the Division – Meters, Aclara.

“The introduction of our new polyphase meter variant cements Aclara ‘s leadership in providing a complete suite of SMETS2 electricity smart meter variants which meet UK regulatory metering requirements.”

Aclara’s smart meters have long been at the forefront of the UK and other parts of the world’s smart metering deployment programs. Its dual-energy solution consists of its electricity meters SGM1400TM SMETS2, specifically designed for large-scale SMETS2 deployments, as well as SMET2 gas meters supplied via a strategic partnership with FLONIDAN.

All Aclara meters are certified by the UK National Cyber Security Centre for Commercial Product Assurance (CPA). CPA certification is a fundamental requirement in the UK ‘s National Smart Metering Implementation Program for the deployment of SMETS2 meters.
